WIXOM — The test equipment and electronics manufacturer dSpace has introduced an additional processing unit for its Scalexio hardware-in-the-loop test systems.
Equipped with an eight-core Intel Xeon Processor E5, dSpace officials say the new processing unit is ideal for the parallel execution of complex and computationally intensive simulation models. This enables engineers to use high-fidelity, physically realistic models, increases model accuracy, and makes hardware-in-the-loop simulations more realistic.

TROY — The computer-aided design and engineering software HyperWorks, from the Troy engineering technology developer Altair, has added several new features the company says will improve workflows and provide a complete framework of model building and stress analysis for the aerospace industry.
Company officials said the new tools increase efficiency for aerospace engineers in their daily tasks, including concept design, global and detailed finite element model build, post-processing and certification report generation.
TROY — The Altair Partner Alliance has added the systems engineering software from Brighton-based XLDyn LLC to its lineup of software partnerships. The software is made up of two modules, XLSE and XL1D, which work together to automate the creation of system models and perform one dimensional multi-physics simulations.
TROY — The Troy-based engineering technology developer Altair Engineering says it has completed its acquisition of Grenoble, France-based Cedrat S.A. and its New York-based subsidiary, Magsoft Corp.
In a news release, Altair said Cedrat is a developer of electromagnetic and thermal simulation software, used by manufacturers to accelerate the development of electric and electromagnetic devices such as motors, transformers, sensors, transmission lines, arc chambers and heat treatment processes.
