New LTU Incubator, Science Center, SBAM On Monday’s M2 TechCast

ROYAL OAK – The M2 TechCast podcast will launch two new segments with its Monday, Feb. 6 program.

In the first new segment, Tonya Matthews, director of the Michigan Science Center, kicks off her STEM education focused segment. She’ll be visiting the TechCast monthly.

Also a future regular guest is Michael Rogers, communications director for the Small Business Association of Michigan, who will talk about SBAM and the products and services it offers Michigan’s business community.

Also on the show to talk about the new Lawrence Technological University Design Incubator and co-working space – at LTU’s new Detroit Center for Design + Technology at 4219 Woodward Ave. in Midtown Detroit – will be Christopher Stefani, the incubator’s director. The center provides working and meeting space for entrepreneurs in the creative fields.

Rounding out the show will be Greg Doyle from Tech248, the Oakland County-based tech business group, talking about the new Oakland Entrepreneurs Alliance.

M2 TechCast Features Cybersecurity, Tech Startups

ROYAL OAK — A look at cybersecurity trends for 2017, help for tech entrepreneurs, and a look at how legal cannabis could help the state’s budget woes.

That’s the lineup for the Monday, Dec. 19 M2 TechCast, live on the internet at 3 p.m. Eastern time today at http://www.podcastdetroit.com.

The show will kick off with Keith Brophy, state director of the Michigan Small Business Development Centers, with a special guest entrepreneur helped by his SBA-based organization.

Next, Peter Schwartz from East Lansing-based software developers Supported Intelligence will discuss a report that shows how legalized cannabis sales could generate a lot of tax revenue for Michigan.

In Segment Three, Irene Spanos, director of economic development and community affairs for Oakland County, will explain the results of the 2016 Oakland County Economic Report.

The show will wrap up with cybersecurity expert Dan Lohrmann, who  will provide his Cyber Year in Review and cyber predictions for 2017.

Today’s show will be the last one of 2016 for the M2 TechCast, which is taking a two-week holiday break. The TechCast will return Monday, July 9 with a special show focused on mobile technology being displayed at the North American International Auto Show.

AT&T Brings Faster Network to Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties

DETROIT — AT&T Inc. announced that it has upgraded a dozen cell towers throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties.

The company said the changes will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices. With 4G LTE service, they’ll see better service when watching videos, posting to social media or texting family and friends.

Orbitak Hosting Project Management Event

Lawrence Technological University will host a global project management conference April 13 and 14.

The conference, “GPMC 2016: The Globalized Project Management Competence Conference,” is being organized by orbitak International of Bingham Farms.

Orbitak, founded in 2006 as an affiliate of Germany’s orbitak AG, provides management consulting and operational services in quality development, project management and product development. AT&T Upgrades 4G Network In Detroit Area

DETROIT — AT&T Inc. announced Friday that it is now covering more of southeast Michigan with it 4G network.

The telecom giant says it upgraded 10 cell sites in the city and the improvements will make the cell sites stronger in order to handle more traffic, resulting in faster speeds and more reliable service.
